Details
This is the gesture of turning the wheel (chakra) of the teaching (dharma). The gesture is reminiscent of the first sermon of Sarnath, in which Buddha explained the Four Noble Truths. Both hands are held in front of the chest. The right hand lies on the chest with the arm slightly bent and the palm facing outwards. The left hand covers it, palm inwards, with a few fingertips touching, as if counting on the fingers. The thumbs and index fingers of both hands (at chest height) form a circle. The remaining fingers are outstretched.
